Belotero (Merz, Germany) is soon to be the newest hyaluronic acid product on the US market as it nears FDA approval for facial wrinkles. It will join other hyaluronic acid filler products such as Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, and Preville Silk.
Early clinical trials have shown that Belotero is an excellent product to fill the fine lines around the lips, a most difficult problem to correct with currently available fillers. Apparently Belotero can be injected very superficially without the risk of “blue discoloration” (Tyndall effect) that is seen with other HA products.
Given the safety and efficacy of Belotero in other countries as well as in the US clinical trials, Dr. Persky looks forward to offering his patients yet another tool in facial rejuvenation. Be well.
