Ulthera uses micro-focused ultra-sound energy to lift and tighten the skin of the face and neck. Over the past two years of treating hundreds of patients we have found that Ulthera is very safe and effective. We are often asked, “Who is the best candidate for Ulthera?” Although we see improvement in all of our patients who are treated, we have found that some respond better than others.
Young men and women who are noticing for the first time in their lives that there is laxity in the skin of the face and neck are among the best candidates for the treatment. Early treatment gives great and lasting results. One noticeable sign of aging is increased shadowing around concavities on the face. This usually shows up in the cheek area in front of and below the ear behind the jowl area. When the face is treated with Ulthera, this area tightens giving the patient a more youthful, rested, natural appearance.
Another group of patients who respond very well to Ulthera treatment are those patients who have undergone previous face/neck lifting, and are now beginning to see laxity of their necks and jaw lines. We now believe that our face lift patients will most likely only need a single surgery with the availability of Ulthera. Why risk a second surgery and anesthesia when a one hour no downtime in the office procedure can do the trick?
