The cover of Malibu Magazine (June/July 2011) features talented actress Eva Green…and her gorgeous lips. Ms. Green’s upper lip central fullness gently tapers towards the upturned corners of her mouth. The curve of her peaked Cupid’s bow and shape of her upper lip resembles the majestic wings of an eagle in flight. The philtrum columns of her upper lip extend to the base of her nose in perfect harmony. Her upper central lip “pilllow” is centered between her two just off center lower lip “pillows” of fullness. Her lower lip is displays fullness in the central two thirds, again without fullness laterally. The golden “phi” ratio of 0.67 is present in that her upper lip is about 70% the size of her lower lip.
Though everyone’s natural lip shape is a little different, Dr. Persky and Dr. Sunder’s goal in lip augmentation is to restore the soft natural shape of the lip in a natural appearing fashion. We ask our patients to bring in photos of their own lips when they were younger and felt that they looked their best. We use Juvederm, Restylane, and Preville Silk to restore volume and shape to lips.
One of the greatest fears that patients share is that they don’t want lips that are obviously overdone; you know, the lips that we have all seen that enter a room before the rest of a woman’s body, frequently seen in Fashion Island (Newport Beach, CA), Rodeo Drive (Beverly Hills), and any of the “Housewives of…..” television shows. Please rest assured that those patients were not treated at our office!
