After 476 blog entries by yours truly, Persky Sunder Facial Plastic Surgery’s Blog will share their first “Guest Blog” entry. Sammie Bolon has been working with us for the past 4 years. She is intelligent, sweet, caring, and beautiful. Sammie is pursuing her dream of becoming a surgical scrub tech and has recently observed two rhinoplasties (nose jobs) and a face/neck lift in the operating room. Sammie has been kind enough to share her experience, and we are privileged to have her as our first guest blogger:
“Everyone has those moments in life where they worry about whether or not they are on the right career path. For me, being in the operating room with Dr. Persky proved that I am on my way to making my dreams a reality.
I’ve spent over four years working at Persky Sunder Plastic Surgery. What started out as a part-time receptionist position while getting my degree developed into a love for medicine, primarily Facial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Persky and Dr. Sunder have both shown me how outstanding patient care and a great sense for aesthetics can have a significant impact on one’s life. After I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, I began working full time for Dr. Persky and started researching options for careers in the medical field. In December 2013, I enrolled in a program to become a Certified Surgical Technologist.
Working for Dr. Persky and Dr. Sunder, I have had the amazing opportunity to go into the operating room and witness some of the most difficult cosmetic surgeries be performed on numerous occasions. Watching Dr. Persky perform a Rhinoplasty on a patient really shows how important it is to pick a surgeon who genuinely cares about his patients. No two patients are alike and with each patient comes a different game plan for surgery. Observing Dr. Persky taking time to carefully plan each and every move during surgery was a true testament of his skills as surgeon and also his devotion to the patient’s aesthetic goals.
Rhinoplasty really is an art, and seeing the patient’s face the first time the splint comes off after surgery is truly a heartwarming experience. I feel extremely lucky being able to learn from some of the greatest Facial Plastic Surgeons and I couldn’t be happier with the career I have chosen.”
Thank you Sammie, both Dr. Sunder and Dr. Persky look forward to working with you in the operating room for many years to come! Pass that Takahashi forcep please!
