00.12 – Risks for darker skin types
Fraxel Restore Laser is a fractional erbium Laser and it can be used on pretty much on any skin type. We prefer to use it on the lighter skin types because there can be the risk of increased hyper-pigmentation and increased pigmentation in the darker skin types.
We have used Fraxel Restore on all skin types. The darker skin types I’ve used to treat scars and I’ve had a couple of occasions where the skin actually got a little lighter rather than getting hyper-pigmented. It’s the only real case of hyper-pigmentation that I have seen with Fraxel Restore. But for the most part, Fraxel Restore is a very safe good laser that can be used on just about any skin type.
