Over the years, I have come to answer the question, “How are you doing?” with “Well, you know, it’s always something!”
The nice thing about answering like this is that is opens conversation to something other than the usual, “I’m good/fine/great, how are you?.” Fortunately most of the “somethings” are good, like the 63 year old actor who told us today that the producers of his new film told him that they, “…don’t need a 45 year old for the part”, but have decided to give him the part anyway, using make-up to create the 65 year old man that they want. Aesthetic compliments don’t come any better in Hollywood.
And then checking emails at the end of the day, we recieved this: “Thank you so much for today I just love the results!

And just when things are looking good, here comes “It’s always something.” There are a small number of people in this world, bottom feeders if you may, that create frivilous annoyances in our lives, annoyances that will go nowhere, waste creative energy, time, and money for no good reason. I guess it’s true what they say,”You can’t appreciate the good without the bad…it’s always something!” Be well, be grateful for what you have, treat others as you hope they would treat you; we are all one.
