Approximately 15% of our facial aesthetic patients are male. There are differences in how male and female patients are treated to achieve gender appropriate rejuvenation. If these differences are not respected, one can end up with a feminized male.
Recently an actor presented to our practice asking what he could do to help with his aging face. He asked, “What is Tom Cruise doing, we’re the same age and he doesn’t look like he is aging a bit!” Our patient, in his early fifties, was showing the normal signs of aging for a 50 year old man (Tom Cruise,50, Johnny Depp,49, and Rob Lowe,48 are male stars seemingly drinking from the fountain of youth). Our patient has lost volume in his face resulting in wrinkles in the cheeks, jowls, loss of definition of his jawline, and some forehead glabellar wrinkles.
Our treatment plan included strategic volume replacement with Sculptra, Botox for the forehead lines, Dysport for crow’s feet, and an upcoming Ulthera non-invasive lifting and tightening procedure for his face and neck. We also recommended excellent skin care products.
We don’t know what exact facial aesthetic treatments stars Tom, Johnny, and Rob have had, but you can bet that they are maintaining they boyish looks with some of our latest non-surgical rejuvenation techniques. Please feel free to contact us with any questions that you may have regarding your own male facial rejuvenation.
