Actual RealSelf Patient Comment:

I want to learn more about Botox before I go ahead and receive it, as I hear some conflicting information but I’m wondering how many millimeters deep does Botox get injected into the DOA muscles and the Orbicularis around the eye?

Dr. P’s Reply:
Your most important consideration in having Botox treatment is making sure to choose your treating physician most carefully and trust and have “faith” that they know the proper “millimeter depth” to inject Botox. Botox injections require knowledge of anatomy that varies from patient to patient. The injection must be placed into the DAO muscle, the depth in mm’s varies. For Crow’s Feet injections at the orbicularis muscle, Botox is placed just above the muscle which is very superficial.
