RealSelf actual patient comment:

During my consult with a doctor, he said profound can only be done on lower face, not around eyes or forehead. Is there a reason why? And why are some doctors doing it on you tube?
A.I nearly always treat my Profound patients on their forehead and around their eyes. As a facial plastic surgeon I am very comfortable using tumescent local anesthesia (the same type of facial injection of local anesthesia that is used during face, neck, and brow lifts) which is necessary to treat these areas. The anatomy of the forehead and underlying skull bone requires tumescent infiltration of local anesthesia so that the dermal micro-needles which penetrate 1 to 2 millimeters beneath the skin do not hit bone and are damaged. The company that manufactures Profound, Syneron, does not encourage treatment of the forehead or eye area. Once again, as a facial plastic surgeon I am fully comfortable treating these difficult areas safely and effectively. By treating a greater surface area, the results of Profound rejuvenation are greater. It takes more time, skill, knowledge, and experience to treat the forehead and eye region, but it is worth the effort. As with any aesthetic procedure please be sure to choose your treating physiciancarefully based on their skill, knowledge, experience, and most importantly their natural artistic vision. Good luck and be well.
