Do I need septoplasty or rhinoplasty for collapsed nasal wall?
RealSelf actual patient comment:
Can an closed procedure be done for a collapsed nasal wall or anything that is less invasive with minimal down time? I have issues breathing due to the collapsed wall on both sides.
A.If an examination of your nose reveals that you have enlarged inferior nasal turbinates compromising your nasal airway then you may have the turbinates reduced non-surgically with radiofrequency, in my experience this saves approximately 75% of my patients the need for a surgical septoplasty. If you should need surgery then a closed approach procedure can be performed to correct your collapsed nasal walls. Please be sure to choose your rhinoplasty surgeon carefully based on their skill, knowledge, training, care, and experience. A few rhinoplasty experts I would recommend are Ari Hyman, MD (Los Angeles), Dean Toriumi, MD Chicago, and Steven Pearlman, MD (NYC). Good luck and be well.
