Emsella and Emsculpt in Patients with Titanium Screws (or Other Metallic Implants)
Actual RealSelf Patient Comment: I am interested in getting emsella done but I have titanium screws in my jaw is it still ok to do the procedure even with my screws? What are the possible side effects/interference that can happen with emsella and titanium screws?
Dr. Persky’s Response: In your case, because your titanium screws are so far away from where Emsella is emitting it’s electro-magnetic energy, you are completely safe to have the treatment. In general, as long as any metallic implant is at least 7 cm (a little less than 3 inches) away from the seat (or the paddles in the case of Emsculpt), then it is completely safe. Patients with metal implants that are too close to the emission of the energy can have excessive heating of the implant. Good luck and be well.
