How fast does bruising show up after Voluma in the cheeks? Can you see bruising as quickly as an hour or two after?
RealSelf actual patient comment:
How fast does bruising show up after Voluma in the cheeks? Can you see bruising as quickly as an hour or two after? Also, is there any tell tale sign that a discolored area is not a bruise but a necrosis in the early stages? Thanks.
A.Most of the time we don’t see bruising with Voluma injections. As with any injections, if a blood vessel is hit with the needle, there will be some bleeding. Bruising is minimized by applying pressure for a few minutes. Voluma is injected deep to muscle and just over bone in most areas where it is used. Occaisionally a deep blood vessel may be hit and delayed bruising does not show up for a day or two. Early vascular compromise and necrosis are entirely different and much more serious than bruising. If the filler is injected into a blood vessel the patient will feel intense discomfort. The area supplied by the vessel immediately blanches. The resulting discoloration is mottled unlike a typical bruise. Should this occur, it is essential to seek treatment immediately to dissolve the filler. Always choose your injecting physician most carefully. Good luck and be well.
