How soon is it safe to get Botox after giving birth?
Actual RealSelf Patient Comment: I gave birth in February and am interested in getting botox. I am prone to various allergies and am wondering if it may be too soon to get botox in the event it could cause an allergy given the fluctuation of hormones postpartum. While I have never had an allergic reaction to botox, I did experience delayed reactions to hylauronic acid facial fillers on multiple occasions. Please let me know if this is an issue to consider with respect to the botox and how long I should wait for, if at all. Thx!
Dr. Persky’s Reply: Congratulations on your baby! It is safe to have Botox injections anytime after birth for the mother, the baby likely will not need any Botox for the next 25 to 30 years! There have not been any studies on the transmission of Botox through mother’s milk to infants. If you are breast feeding consult with your pediatrician. No worries regarding any increased risk of allergic reactions to Botox post partum. Good luck and be well!
