I have thick ropiness underneath the skin after blepharoplasty, what can I do?
RealSelf actual patient comment:
I had upper and lower blepharoplasty 18 days ago. Underneath the upper eyelid scars is a very thick rope. It is not above the skin. It is causing a visual ridge. It is continuing to get thicker despite massaging. In one large area it is easily a quarter of an inch thick. It is somewhat painful when touched. What is the best treatment for this ropiness?
A.Great question as this is very common after blepharoplasty.
Fortunately the “ropiness” resolves with time. You may ask your blepharoplasty surgeon to inject a small amount of Kenalog-10 (a steroid) in the “rope” to soften it and facilitate its disappearance. The crows feet area should not be noticeable once the redness of the incision scar goes away in 6 to 8 weeks.Good luck and be well.
