Is it okay to get Sculptra (my 2nd appt) before starting a chemo or Immunotherapy?
Actual Real Self Patient Comment: I was jut diagnosed with metastatic cancer and I was starting my Sculptra treatments. I had one done in June and my second is next week. I’m not sure what the treatment will be for me if any, but I already needed Sculptra and I know Chemo will age me even worse. Not to mention the extra reduction from CTs and PET scans. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.
Dr. Persky’s Reply: You are in my prayers for complete remission and cure of your cancer. My thoughts about getting Sculptra injections are that you should not have them until after your treatment because Sculptra stimulates your immune system and uses energy that may be better applied to beating the cancer. If you wish to look better during your chemo/immuno therapy, there are many other fillers (hyaluronic acid fillers) that can add volume without your body using precious energy. Good luck and be well!!!
