RealSelf actual patient comment:

I’ve always been self conscious about the shape and size of the tip of my nose. I’ve been considering a rhinoplasty but have been told by friends and family that it would be difficult/impossible to significantly reduce/change the size and shape of my nose due to the fact that the skin is very thick there. How much change would it be possible for me to see?
A.Yes, a properly performed rhinoplasty will help you achieve your goals of a pretty nose. You will need a structural rhinoplasty where cartilage is used to give your nose definition and reduce your bulbous tip and overcome your thick skin. The most important aspect of your rhinoplasty is making sure that you choose your rhinoplasty surgeon most carefully. I would recommend Ari Hyman, MD who is an expert at structural rhinoplasty having been fellowship trained by Dean Toriumi, MD in Chicago. Dr. Hyman is practicing in Los Angeles. Good luck and be well.
