RealSelf actual patient comment:

I am considering getting Profound RF but had a consultation with a plastic surgeon who warned about a patient who had undergone such a treatment and then subsequently had a facelift who suffered necrosis on her face due to underlying scarring caused by the heat used in the procedure. Have any of you seen this? He warned not to have any skin tightening procedures if I was ever planning to have a facelift down the road. Is this a concern for Profound?
A.I have never seen or heard of a patient who had problems with a facelift after having had a previous Profound treatment. Thousands of patients have had Profound RF and I am fairly certain that we would be hearing much more about this complication if it were occuring. Necrosis of a skin flap after facelift surgery may be related to the patients health, their smoking history, and the surgeon leaving the flap too thin or too tight. Patients should always share their past history of medical problems and treatments with their facelilft surgeon prior to surgery to ensure a safe and excellent outcome. Good luck and be well.
