Actual RealSelf Patient Comment:  On Aug. 30, I had a septoplasty with turbinate reduction. I am now 10 months post-op and very regretful. I loved my nose before and now I cry every single day because I hate it. It is so huge and has no shape compared to my old nose. The sides of it bulge out. I was told I would be fully healed by at most a year post-op but my nose is looking otherwise. Is there anything I can do? Did my surgery go wrong?

Dr. Persky’s Reply: Sorry to hear of your septoplasty experience. In general, a septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery should not change the shape of your nose. I would recommend discussing what if any “implant” was used to widen the external and internal portions of your nose. If your surgeon used permanent implants then the best way to restore the appearance of your nose would be to remove them. By 10 months your nose is now healing. Discuss with your surgeon, good luck and be well.
