Is widening face & numbness in jaw/jowl area normal after Profound RF?
Actual Real Self Patient Comment: Hi, i had profound done almost three months ago and im noticing my face widening. It looks wider. I’m also still experiencing numbness feel along the jaw, jowl area. Is this normal?. I’m not liking the wide look. Looks very full. I thought i would get more of of the chiseled look.. im hoping someone can help. Will i have that look after six months?
Dr. Persky’s Reply: As skin tightens after Profound RF, the cheeks commonly are lifted and may appear to be fuller. If your provider injected a filler such as Sculptra simultaneously there can again be increased volume of the face. As the effects of Profound RF continue to improve over the next 6 months and Elastin is formed, your skin should tighten and your face should not appear to be widened. The numbness along your jaw should resolve (most patients are not numb after a few days to weeks) by 6 months after the treatment the latest. There is not anything to do at this point other than patience as your symptoms resolve over time. Good luck and be well.
