Lip filler migrated and not dissolving after 6 years. Would hyaluronidase be effective to dissolve this? (Photo)
Actual RealSelf Patient Comment:
I had filler in 2015. 3/4 of a syringe, top lip only, focused on the ‘flipping’ upper lip out to make mouth look wider. Product migrated down into the bottom part of my upper lip. Dr Gavin Chan has done MRIs to show how long fillers actually survive in the body, and that it is much longer than anyone assumes. He indicates that hyaluronaise may still be effective to dissolve this. I am concerned about possible negative outcomes. If it hasn’t dissolved by now, does that mean it never will?
Dr. Persky’s Reply:
It is unusual for hyaluronic acid fillers to last 6 years, yet possible. It would be helpful if you got your medical records from the clinic you were injected in 2015 to confirm what filler was placed in your lip. I would treat you with hyaluronidase in an attempt to dissolve the filler. There should be not be a negative outcome if performed properly. Please feel free to contact our office. Good luck and be well.
