Sculptra Expert…26 years old and being given 4 vials of Sculptra
Actual RealSelf Patient Comment: have some smile lines and early signs of aging so I became interested in sculptra. I bought four vials since there was a deal, expecting that I would only be injected with as much as needed and I could save the rest later for maintenance. However the injector is preparing two vials during each of two visits a month apart. Does this seem right? I am afraid this will cause an overfilled look
Dr. Persky’s Answer: I would either ask for your money back, or take the vials that you have bought, and run away. At most, a foundational first treatment of Sculptra in a young woman would involve 1 to 2 vials. After the treatment, in a young patient, the injector should wait at least 8 to 12 weeks to analyse how the product has affected the patient. Some patients are robust responders, especially young patients. To treat you with 4 vials within 30 days is asking for trouble. As with any aesthetic procedure, the most important aspect is to do your due diligence, choose your injecting physician very carefully! Better that you asked this question before you 4 vials than asking after you have had them and would be asking how to reverse your unnecessary treatment. Feel free to contact me with any further questions. Good luck and be well.
