RealSelf actual patient comment:

My nose has a bump on one side, which just really irritates me. It could be a little smaller too, but I would like to keep the triangular shape it has. I’m okay with it straight on, but it seems maybe a little curved? Could this be a deviated septum? My main concern is the bump. Would fillers be beneficial, or only rhinoplasty?

A.It always helps to begin by looking beautiful as you are.

Improving your concerns can certainly be accomplished with rhinoplasty – namely improving the two prominenceson your bridge. A”subtle rhinoplasty”is what I would recommend for you.

The “bumps” may be camouflaged with fillers but you don’t have a traditional “hump” which can be more easily amenable to filler techniques. I agree that you have a nice triangular shape to your nose – its imperative to see a rhinoplasty expert to ensure your nose isn’trotated anymore which in your casewould likely produce too much nostril show on your frontal view.

By far the most important aspect of your rhinoplasty is making sure that you choose your expert rhinoplasty surgeon most carefully, as rhinoplasty is both an art and science. Consult with a few rhinoplasty surgeons before making you choice.Choose your surgeon based on their experience, knowledge, training, skill, and their natural artistic vision. A few experts I would recommend are Ari Hyman, MD (Los Angeles), Dean Toriumi, MD (Chicago), and Steven Pearlman, MD(New York City). Good luck and be well.
