What are my options to fill out the loss of volume and lift jowls at 40?
RealSelf actual patient comment:
I’m 40 and have jowls and a long narrow face. I’ve been researching all of the options and at my age something more long lasting would be best since I’m fighting gravity hard from here on in. Is there something that will last a few years before I finally need a face lift or something more like that? Filler, fat transfer, or implants? Thank you for your time.
A.You are not alone, many patients have the same question when they come to our office in consultation. Fortunately, there are many non-surgical, non-invasive treatments that can address your concerns of early jowling. The best device treatments are Ulthera which uses micro-focused ultrasound to lift and tighten the face and neck, and/or Profound RF which uses micro-needles with radio-frequency energy to do the same. It is usually better to add fillers to a tightened face so if you contemplate both tightening device and filler, then it is best to have the device treatment first. If you wish a quick fix with filler, then I would treat your concerns with Voluma and Restylane Defyne in a natural manner, replacing your lost volume, not adding extra volume that you never had in the past. It is always good to bring photos of your younger self to your consultation. It is important that you do your due diligence and choose your treating physician carefully based on their skill, experience, knowledge, and most importantly their natural artistic vision. Good luck and be well.
