RealSelf actual patient comment:

I am 34 years old and recently lost some weight, around 10 lbs. I ended up loosing a lot of fat in my face and people keep telling me I aged a lot in the last year. I went to see my doctor and he recommended Sculptra. The reviews are terrifying though and I’m really afraid to do it and get bumps in my face. I think I would go crazy. What are the best options to treat fat loss in the cheeks? Would anyone else recommend Sculptra? Thank you

A.Sculptra is a great treatment for natural volume restoration when used properly. Over the past 10 years the proper use of Sculptra has been refined to eliminate lumps and bumps and nodules. Skilled Sculptra injectors achieve incredible results. Sculptra has been used since 2000, initially in HIV atrophy patients, was FDA approved for use in the nasolabial folds in 2004.I personally did not use Sculptra in my practice until 2009 when I was finally convinced that proper use was safe and did not result in nodules as I could not afford to have any patients with this adverse event. Sculptra is now among the top injection treatments that I perform and my patients are uniformly happy. I have treated many patients from other clinics with nodules and have been able to dissolve them over time. As with any aesthetic treatment, the most important aspect is to make sure that you choose your treating physician most carefully based on their skill, experience, knowledge, care, and natural artistic vision and results. Good luck and be well.
