Twenty five percent through Walter Isaacson’s “Steve Jobs” biography, a few things are apparent. Steve Jobs was a fastidious genius who would not accept anything but his vision of perfection and beauty. He meticulously worked to make Apple computers aesthetically beautiful from the fonts and colors to the shape and curves of the computers. For someone who studied Eastern philosophies and religions, he was not a very nice person, in fact others have described him as a part of the human anatomy where “the sun doesn’t shine.” He lived his life with a total disregard of “karma.”
it was his sub-conscious anger about being given up by his biologic parents at birth that led to his ruthless behavior, leading to hurting so many people close to him on the way to “insanely changing the universe” for the rest of us (as I compose this on an iMac). I was able to understand and accept his quirky behaviors until I read that he had no problem parking his cars in handicapped parking spaces with total disregard of others.
Yesterday, a beautiful Fisker “Karma” plug-in hybrid sports car was parked in a “handicap parking” spot outside of the gym. The over $100,000 car’s model name “Karma” parked in this spot struck me as ironic, and led me to think of Steve Jobs. What an appropriately named automobile for someone with so little regard for the handicapped and others. Be well and treat others as you would want them to treat you.
