A new study published in the July 2011 Lasers in Surgery and Medicine by Henry HL Chan, MD, PhD, FRCP has concluded that transcutaneous intense focused ultrasound (Ultherapy by Ulthera) appears to be safe for non-invasive facial skin tightening in Asians.
The safety study confirmed that adverse events were mild and transient. Pain control during treatment should be optimized (as it is as Dr. Sunder and Dr. Persky’s office). No serious permanent or delayed side effects were noted up to 6 months following the treatments in the treatment of 49 Chinese patients.
Ultherapy is an exciting new procedure that is the only FDA approved device for both lifting and tightening the skin. Patient satisfaction has been very good with this non-surgical lifting treatment.
