We see a lot of patients from all over the world who have suffered from acne scars entire life; There are actually some patients I love the most and they are the most satisfied patients we have. We found that the best treatment for acne scars at our practice is the fractionated CO2 laser. I use that laser quite aggressively to treat acne scars. It is called Fraxel repair and we have had a great deal of success in treating patients. Now, with acne scars, we like to again treat them with laser. At the time of the laser, we can also use something called subcision, where we use a needle or something sharp and get under the scars that are tacked down to free them up and then, do the laser over it. I always tell our acne scars patients that with one treatment, they may see a nice result, but they may need multiple treatments, and the ones that come back and have multiple treatments get the best results. Once patients have healed from the acne scars, we can actually use some injectable fillers; I like to use restylane, juvederm. For that, in some patients who have had some experience with permanent silicon injections, we even use that. The problem with silicon injections is that it is permanent and we have to be very-very particular and careful with them.
