Fraxel® Re:pair, Dual/Re:store
Keeping your skin youthful and smooth can be a constant battle that appears to have no means to an end. Creams, lotions, and other over-the-counter treatments often do nothing for correcting wrinkles and brown spots. Even those who practice the most ritualistic skin care routines have trouble managing the inevitable signs of aging. Many think about undergoing surgery to reverse the aging process; however, it can be intimidating having to undergo an invasive procedure. Even so, surgical options such as facelift surgery cannot restore damaged skin and remove age spots. With so many technological advancements in laser therapy, patients can achieve clearer, more youthful skin with minimal downtime and pain. Some of the most advanced laser treatments are available from Fraxel®.
Dr. Persky is one of the world’s pioneers in Fraxel® re:store, Fraxel® re:pair, and Fraxel® Dual. During your consultation with Dr. Persky, he will evaluate your skin and help you decide which Fraxel® laser treatment would be the best option for your individual needs. Fraxel® may not be the “fountain of youth,” but it is the closest technology you can get to it. We also offer services in San Fernando Valley & Calabasas.

Fraxel® re:store
Fraxel® re:store is the original fractionated non-ablative laser. It uses microscopic laser columns of heat to treat a fraction of the skin at a time without damaging the surrounding tissues, leaving columns of healthy skin for faster healing.
A topical anesthetic gel is applied to the skin one hour before treatment. During the procedure, cool air is used to make the skin comfortable, and most patients find that the treatment is very tolerable and feels like warm little pins running over the skin. For maximum results, it is recommended that patients undergo a series of three to four treatments every two to three weeks.
Fraxel® re:store Is Used to Treat:
- Fine lines
- Uneven skin tone
- Age spots
Fraxel® re:store Recovery
Patients can expect the skin to appear sunburned or windburned for about an hour after treatment. Most patients can return to normal activities the following day, although noticeable results will slowly appear in a week. For the first two days, there will be some redness and swelling. By the third day, the skin will bronze and appear tanned. From the third to sixth day, a fine powdery peel will develop. The skin will normalize by the seventh day. Patients will notice their skin looks and feels fresh and rosy with an overall improvement in the appearance of fine lines and skin tone.
Fraxel® Dual
Fraxel® Dual is a non-ablative laser with upgraded software that reduces treatment times by 25 percent compared to the re:store treatment, but it is just as effective. This “brown spot laser” offers a more comfortable treatment with a cooling device integrated into the new handpiece that allows for the skin to be chilled directly as it is treated.
One hour before treatment, a topical anesthetic is applied to the target area. The microscopic laser technology of the Fraxel® Dual penetrates deep into the skin to expedite the body’s production of new collagen, expel unwanted brown spots, and stimulate the growth of new, healthy skin cells. Most patients say the procedure feels like warm little pins over the skin. To achieve the best results, patients can undergo three treatments spaced two to three weeks apart.
Fraxel® Dual is Used to Treat:
- Brown spots
- Hyperpigmentation
- Actinic keratosis
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
Fraxel® Dual Recovery
After treatment, the skin will look pinkish like a sunburn. Fraxel® Dual treatment requires five days of recovery. For two days after treatment, the skin will be red. There may be mild swelling for the first two to three days, although this is more common around the eyes. By the third day, brown spots will appear darker, and the skin will peel similar to peeling from a sunburn for the next three days. After five days, the skin will have a fresh, pink glow, and patients will notice their skin looks and feels fresh with a significant improvement in brown spots.
Fraxel® re:pair
Fraxel® re:pair is an ablative fractionated carbon dioxide laser that resurfaces the skin for dramatic rejuvenation. The re:pair is the most aggressive of the Fraxel® procedures and achieves skin tightening and lifting. This laser is effective on any part of the body and can be used for patients of any skin color.
During treatment, the Fraxel® re:pair laser targets a fraction of the skin at a time with a series of microscopic laser dots. Preserving healthy skin between the dots aids in healing and recovery. Fraxel® re:pair can provide optimal results from just one treatment session.
Fraxel® re:pair Is Used to Treat:
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Loose skin
- Crepey skin
- Scars (surgical, acne, burns)
- Light sun spots
Fraxel® re:pair Recovery
Since Fraxel® re:pair is the most intense of the Fraxel® lasers, it requires the longest recovery time. Recovery requires one week of downtime with no sun exposure, during which time the face will appear sunburned. After one week, patients can use sunblock and makeup and may return to work and normal activities. Facial redness will gradually fade six to eight weeks after treatment, at which time results will become visible. Patients will notice that their skin has a fresh, healthy glow.
