It is one of the greatest privileges of my professional life to be among some of the world’s finest rhinoplasty surgeons in one lecture ballroom. Advances in Rhinoplasty 2015 is a gathering of today’s Michaelangos sculpting natural beauty based on light and shadows and the devine proportions of da Vinci.
The last section of the near 12 hour day of noses was entitled, “The Selfie, Self-Image, and Self-Esteem: The Rhinoplasty Patient in the Digital Social World.” The panel was led by Drs. Steve Dayan and course director David Kim, Laura Berman, LCSW, PhD, and Nicole Pearl, moderated by Susanna Negovan. Here’s the scoop…your best look when taking a selfie is to take an oblique (3/4) view, from above, and from as far away as possible. Oh, and the other main point, selfies are not true representations of you. If you choose aesthetic treatments, make that decision based on something that has bothered you for years, not ever something in a selfie. Be well.
