Sam Weiss has published his list of “10 celebrity plastic surgeries that went horribly wrong” in T4 Magazine. Here are his top 10 in quotes with some commentary from Dr. P outside of the quotes:
“The single biggest selling factor for a celebrity is their face. Its not uncommon to read about celebrities undergo surgical procedures to enhance their features. But, where do we draw the line and call it too much? Here are 10 celebrities that underwent plastic surgeries with disastrous consequences.”
10. Michael Jackson
“After being diagnosed in 1986 for Vitiligo – a condition that causes depigmentation of the skin, Jackson underwent extensive plastic surgery including rhinoplasty, a forehead lift, cheekbone surgery, lip alteration, and had a cleft put in his chin. But, it ended up making him a lot more depressed and his surgeon a whole lot more money.”
MJ is a very unfortunate example of cosmetic physicians letting a patient dictate what was done even in the face of unrealistic and unnatural requests. Unfortunately for Michael even when it came time for non-aesthetic medicine, he was enabled to find an unethical physician to administer IV Propofol for sleep and rest. Propofol is a powerful medication meant only to be used in an operating room or emergency room under constant observation, which in Michael’s case led to his untimely death.
9. Sylvester Stallone
Known for his famous movies like Rocky and Rambo, Stallone is said to have went under the knife multiple times giving him a permanent surprised look and inability to form any meaningful facial expression, thanks to years of botox abuse. “Slyvester has prominent upper eyelid platforms the result of upper blepharoplasty incisions being created at too high a level (which can be acceptable in women but looks unnatural in men).
8. Melanie Griffith
“The once beautiful Griffith who won a Gloden Globe for her performance in ‘Working Girl’ has undergone surgery multiple times, looking nothing like her former self. With fame comes… a hideous face!?”
Actually Dr. P thinks that Ms. Griffith looks better here than in some of the other photos out there that are examples of obvious plastic surgery, and too much filler in her face and lips.
7. Joan Van Ark
“If someone were to write a guide on “How to become a Halloween freak show in 5-easy-steps”, Joan would be your author of choice. We’re intrigued as to how plastic surgeons convince these people to have their face butchered. And that too for a fat price.”
Ms. Van Ark has had her upper eyelids hollowed out, likely with an upper bleph that included removal of muscle and fat. To avoid this unnatural appearance most blepharoplasty surgeons now only remove skin from the upper eyelids, or at most minimal fat. Joan also appears to have had some sort of peel or CO2 laser treatments that have resulted in hypo pigmentation (whitening) of her skin. ”
6. Lil’ Kim
“The popular American rapper is probably the most famous example of plastic surgery gone wrong. She shocked the world with her new ‘looks’ when she made her appearance in 2013 on the Hot 97 event. When criticized for her “face lift”, she blamed the media for photoshopping her images.”
Lil appears to have had too much reduction rhinoplasty resulting in an unnatural nose with excessive nostril show. She may have too much filler and an eyebrow lift as well.
5. Joan Rivers
“It’s anyone’s guess why celebrities pay a premium to sport the Joker’s grin. Like seriously, its f***** creepy!”
Rest in peace Joan. Joan was the reigning Queen of Plastic Surgery and an unabashed ambassador for plastic surgery. Ironically, after having had so many plastic surgery procedures safely, Joan died of complications from a routine non-plastic surgical procedure because of alleged terrible misjudgment of the physician.
4. Jackie Stallone
“Jackie is the mother of the famous Sylvester Stallone and is an astrologer and self-proclaimed rumpologist – in that she reveals the fate of her customers by looking at their ass. No, seriously.. we’re not making this s#it up! We’re not exactly sure if she had plastic surgery or her face just turned that way from looking at people’s butts all day long. She even became the “butt” of everyone’s joke once when she set up an astrology hotline.”
Ouch, we don’t know if her son recommended his plastic surgeon or vice versa, but they both seem to have found plastic surgeon(s) who appear to have studied under the proportions of Picasso rather than the devine ratios of Da Vinci.
3. Donatella Versace
“As prominent Italian fashion designer and current VP of the Versace brand, Donatella decided she needed a career boost by going under the knife. She says its plastic surgery, but we believe its the aftermath of having a truck run over your face. The truth may never be known..”
Excessive fillers of some sort have been put in Ms. Versace’s face and lips, again in an obvious unnatural manner. Whenever it is obvious that something has been done to the face, then their plastic surgeon has terribly failed them.
2. Elizabeth Starr
“Elizabeth was once a famous adult star – Keyword: “Once”.. Like all aspiring porn stars, Elizabeth tried to get her “assets” enhanced by undergoing a surgical procedure that has since been banned. Our guess is that she got a bit too much than what she could “handle”.”
The same can be said of the body as of the face, when things are obvious…see comments about Versace above.
1. Jocelyn Windelstein
“The poster girl and brand ambassador for the “WTF” expression. Like seriously, Jocelyn Windelstein would probably give Freddy Krueger a run for his money.”
It has been said that the top reason that prospective plastic surgery patients fear going to the facial plastic surgeon office is that they fear looking like “The Catwoman”.
