Xeomin is the latest botulinium neuro-modulator to be introduced to the cosmetic wrinkle treatment market. It is manufactured by Merz, the company that makes Radiesse. Xeomin joins Botox and Dysport as the currently available botulinium preparations available. It has been FDA approved for the treatment of cervical dystonia (stiff neck) and blepharospasm (twitching eye muscles). It will be used off label for the cosmetic correction of facial rhytids (wrinkles), similar to Botox and Dysport when they first were FDA approved.
Xeomin lacks accessory proteins which sets it apart from Dysport and Botox. The company has stated that, “Merz is committed to patients having access to the product by providing a variety of service offerings and financial assistance programs for patients. For eligible patients, Merz will offer a drug co-pay assistance program to help with out-of-pocket costs.”
We look forward to using Xeomin along with other injectable products to provide the best possible cosmetic and functional results for our patients.
Be well.
